*blows dust off*

Well, um... hello.

I'm considering restarting this blog. Not sure what I'll do with it, exactly, or if I'll do it, but watch this space. Just sayin'.

and so...

1/14/04
Sarcastic boss asks:
"So, has it been a bad day?"
He'd rather not know.

1/15/04
Call bank, Triple A,
go twenty other places...
just let me die now.

1/16/04
Dark, gray skies, damp air,
too warm for a winter's day--
I'm chilled to the bone.

1/17/04
You can't find me now.
You may think I'm here with you;
in truth, I'm long gone.

playing catch-up...

1/10/04
Supermarket, mail,
drugstore, then check mail again.
Gotta nap now.

1/11/04
The sun is shining,
the air is warm, the breeze, still.
How come I don't care?

1/12/04
Visiting a friend,
first time since she got divorced,
not sure what I'll see.

cough, hack, wheeze...

1/9/04
Runny nose, sore throat.
I hope I'm not getting sick.
There just isn't time.

the coffee delicious...

1/8/04
A childhood landmark,
once home of "Coffee Delicious"--
now charred brick, stone.

Butternut Coffee used to be known as "The Coffee Delicious." Coffee beans were roasted and ground in the warehouse district, and everyone knew its watertower by sight. The watertower was painted to resemble the coffee can of the moment (actually, the appearance changed little until the 1970s). The aroma of roasted coffee filled the downtown air until the 1990, when Coca-Cola (Butternut's owner at the time) closed down the building. Almost as soon as the building closed, plans were made and abandoned by various would-be owners to make it into apartments. Finally, a couple of years ago, an investor was found and lofts were created. The condos and apartments were close to being completed when it went up in flames last night at 11:30. The well-known coffee can watertower collasped by 1 a.m. The building, at 5 p.m., is still burning.
